“Dance is the hidden language of the soul of the body.” Martha Graham
Livia Etelka’s background is deeply rooted in the world of dance, starting her journey at the age of 4. Following a classical training in ballet, she gained the fundamentals for her further exploration of other dance genres and circus practices.
In 2010, she joined the Santa Barbara Center for Aerial Arts and integrated its company, where she dived into the world of aerial dance, with strong contemporary dance training. Since 2014, Livia has been performing around the world as a solo and duo aerialist and dancer, showcasing her work from theater productions, to street art festivals, and high-end corporate events.
She is a member of Cie Daniell Alnuma Jungle Dance Theater in India since 2015, performing over 5 contemporary theater ballet productions.
Livia is also the artistic director and producer of larger circus productions in India, the Feral Banyan Circus shows, gathering an international collective of circus artists and musicians, working under her direction and leadership since 2016.
As a movement artist, Livia is fascinated by exploring the embodiment of this human experience, researching the nuances and meanings of this body existing in our world. Influenced by external factors whilst also being shaped and colored by our inner world. With grace and strength, she brings contrasts to her work, blending emotions and physicality.Livia’s inspired by the ephemeral and fleeting element of live performance arts, and the unique experience created for the audience, that of a small window into utter embodied presence.
